There is a lot of time and effort put into the typeface and the outcome is always rewarding: A typeface that can be used again and again, through many hands and for many different thoughts and voices.”
Erica Carras is a type designer for Monotype. Erica fell in love with typography, when on an unexpected class trip to the Updike Collection while attending the Rhode Island School of Design. In that room she saw the history and variety of typographic design and asked “Do people still do this?” The next day she started drawing letters and has never stopped.
Erica graduated from RISD with degrees in Illustration and Graphic Design, and then went on to earn a certificate from the [email protected] extended program. Prior to joining Monotype, she was a freelancing graphic and type designer. Her most recent typeface, Pyk, won a TDC Award of Excellence.
